How To

Scan cards with your phone

Use the camera scanner to recognize cards and add them to inventory.

The camera scanner helps identify a card from a photo. You still review the result before it becomes trusted inventory.

Prepare the card

For the clearest result:

  • use even lighting;
  • avoid glare on sleeves and holofoil;
  • keep the full card inside the frame;
  • use a plain background;
  • hold the camera still;
  • make sure the set symbol and collector number are readable.

Scan a card

  1. Open the scanner in TCG STATS.
  2. Choose the correct game.
  3. Place the card inside the guide.
  4. Take the photo.
  5. Wait for the suggested match.
  6. Compare the suggestion with the physical card.
  7. Confirm the variation, language and condition.
  8. Add the card to inventory.

Always review the match

Cards can share artwork across several sets. Check:

  • set name;
  • collector number;
  • promo or first-edition mark;
  • holo, reverse holo or other finish;
  • language.

If the result is uncertain, search for the card manually instead of choosing the closest image.

When scanning performs poorly

Remove the card from a reflective sleeve, change the angle or use softer lighting. Cropped corners and strong glare are the most common causes of a poor match.
